Kantharawichai District

Amphoe Kantharawichai ( in Thai อำเภอ กันทรวิชัย ) is a district ( Amphoe - administrative district ) in the north of the province of Maha Sarakham. The Maha Sarakham Province is located in the center of northeast Thailand, the so-called Isaan.

Geography

Amphoe Kantharawichai borders the following districts (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Mueang Maha Sarakham to, Kosum Phisai and Chiang Yuen Maha Sarakham Province, and Amphoe Yang Talat and the Khong Chai Province Kalasin.

History

The history of the district dates back to the Mueang Kant slope ( กัน ทาง ), it was built in 1785 under the name Khanthathirat ( คัน ธา ธิ ราช ) was founded. In 1874, he was renamed Mueang Kantharawichai, 1900 changed to Amphoe. In 1913 he became subordinate of Kalasin Maha Sarakham Province, and in 1915 opened the office in Ban Khok Phra. In 1917 the district was renamed in Khok Phra but the historical name was restored in 1939.

Education

In Kantharawichai Amphoe Maha Sarakham is university.

Management

Amphoe Kantharawichai is divided into ten municipalities ( tambon) organized, in turn into 183 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

There are three small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Khok Phra ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล โคก พระ ), consisting of parts of tambon Khok Phra.
  • Tha Khon Yang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ท่า ขอน ยาง ), consisting of the whole tambon Tha Khon Yang
  • Kham Riang ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล ขาม เรียง ), consisting of the whole tambon Kham Riang.

In addition, there are eight " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
