Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev ( born January 6, 1959 in Chandigarh, Punjab, India ) is a former Indian cricketer. He is considered one of the best all-rounders in the history of cricket sports. In 1983 he was elected one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. A total of 34 Test matches and 74 One- Day International cricket matches ( ODIs ), he was captain of the Indian team.

Career

During his career, Kapil Dev played 131 Tests for India, where he scored a total of 434 wickets and 5248 runs. In 1994, he broke the record for most wickets in Test cricket, the previously Richard Hadlee has held. His record was broken by Courtney Walsh again in 1999. Kapil Dev is the only player in the history of Test cricket, who scored more than 4,000 runs and 400 wickets. He also played for India in ODIs 225 which he scored 253 wickets and 3783 runs. With the Indian team, he participated in four Cricket World Cups (1979, 1983, 1987 and 1992). In 1983 he won with his team the title. In 2009, Kapil Dev was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
