Kapoe District

Kapoe ( Thai: กะเปอร์ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) of Ranong province in southern Thailand.

Geography

Amphoe Kapoe is by following Amphoe limited ( seen from the north clockwise from ): Amphoe Mueang Ranong Province Ranong, Amphoe Phato Chumphon Province, Amphoe Chaiya the Tha Chang and Ban Ta Khun Surat Thani Province and Amphoe Suk Samran turn in Ranong. To the west lies the Andaman Sea.

In the southeast part of the county is the " Wildlife Reserve Khlong Nakha " ( Khlong Nakha Wildlife Sanctuary ). The mangrove forests of Maenam Kapoe ( Kapoe River ) are part of the " Ranong Biosphere Reserve".

Laem Son National Park lies partly on the southern coast of the county. The 315 km ² park was opened on 19 August 1983 as the 12th Marine National Park. It consists of a total of about 60 km of coastline and 15 smaller islands.

Management

Amphoe Kapoe is divided into five communities ( tambon), which further into 34 villages ( Muban ) are divided.

Kapoe is also the name of a small town ( thesaban tambon) in the district, it includes parts of the tambon Kapoe.

There are also four " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
