Kara Strait

Geographical location

The Karastraße (Russian Карские Ворота ) is a strait in the extreme northeast of Europe. It connects the Kara Sea and the Barents Sea in northern Russia. It separates the island Waigatsch of the South Island of Novaya Zemlya archipelago, and is at the narrowest point 42 km wide.
