Karambolage (ARTE)

Carom is a TV show on ARTE, designed by the French filmmaker Claire Doutriaux, are presented and explained in the weekly German - French peculiarities and curiosities in an artistic, humorous and experimental way. For the " idea, design and realization " of this show Claire Doutriaux received the 2006 Adolf Grimme Prize in the competition category "Special".

Contents of the shipment

Within changing headings ( " the subject ", " word ", " the custom ", " archive ", " symbol", etc.) are the spectators each from the perspective of the stranger several interesting etymological and cultural contexts or differences of German and French popular culture brought home.

Formal graphics and animations are favored. But there are also scenes that are, however, distorted by bluebox orders and processed trick technically. The animations often collage elements are combined with drawings. Archival footage used in image analysis also learn a graphical editing.

A fixed instance at the end of every show is " The Riddle ". This is a short video of a German or French everyday scene in which the viewer has to figure out based on a small indices, whether it was shot in Germany or France.

Broadcast

The show will be broadcast mainly (French German / ) on Sundays at 19.30 clock on ARTE in multi-channel sound and takes about 12 minutes. The broadcast is repeated irregularly around 6:45 clock in the morning program the following week. All shipments of recent years are also on the homepage of the program are available.

The 200th episode aired on collision on 31 January 2010.

The budget of ARTE enough for 40 shipments a year. At 52 calendar weeks must therefore in at least 12 weeks repetitions are broadcast or completely eliminated the broadcasts.
