The Karamea River is a river in the South Island of New Zealand. The underflow is located in the West Coast region, while heard the greater part of the watercourse to the region Tasman. The river rises east of the Mount Allen in Kahurangi National Park in the Matiri Range of the Southern Alps. It winds briefly to the west and then turns north. After about 25 km, it turns back to the west and flows through a series of small lakes, where he also receives inflow from the Roaring Lion River.

From here, the river flows in a westerly direction by steep valleys. After leaving the National Park, it flows through the last 10 kilometers a plane and passes through the small settlements umere and Arapito. In the town of Karamea it empties into the Tasman Sea.
