Karamelo Santo

Karamelo Santo is an Argentine band from Mendoza. In their music styles like reggae and ska connect with Latin American dances such as cumbia and murga, but also with punk influences. Besides Desorden Público, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Panteon Rococó it is one of the most famous Latin American representatives of the genre.

Band History

The band was founded in 1993 and became the first a single called Baila Gordito on. Your independently -produced debut album La Kulebra was published in 1995 and quickly developed into the reggae and ska scene of Argentina to the tip.

1997 pulled the entire band into a house in Buenos Aires, where they set up a studio. There she produced her own music as well as the other bands to finance the equipment. In the same year they released their second album Perfectos idiotas with which they laid the foundation for their national success. As a result, they toured for the first time abroad in Chile, Uruguay, Mexico and the United States.

Was published in 2001 by the label Benditas Producciones the follow-up album Los Guachos, which was released as the first one year later in Germany ( for overseas Records). In two songs on the album Manu Chao participated as guest vocalist. It was followed by a European tour through France, Germany, Austria and Denmark.

With the fourth album Haciendo Bulla (2004) have, for the first time entry into the top positions of Argentine Charts ( Fruta Amarga ).
