Karel Kachyňa

Karel Kachyňa ( born May 1, 1924 in Vyškov, † March 12, 2004 in Prague) was a Czech film director and screenwriter who occasionally appeared as an actor.

Life

Kachyňa 1951 was one of the first graduates of the Prague film school FAMU. Together with Vojtěch jasny he made documentaries and feature films before with The Lost Trail was his directorial debut in 1956. Many films Kachyňas created in collaboration with screenwriter January Prochazka.
