Karel Komzák I

Karl Komzák, Czech Karel Komzák (* November 4, 1823 in Netěchovice, Bohemia, † March 19, 1893, ibid ) was a Bohemian composer and conductor.

Komzák composed a variety of marches, which he played from 1854 with its chapel. His backing musicians counted Antonín Dvořák, who was from 1859 violist at Komzák. In 1862, Komzák, who had been playing with his popular band previously before all the inn rooms, a commitment as a conductor of the Czech Provisional Theatre ( České Prozatímní Divadlo ) Prague, where his musicians formed the basis of the newly formed ensemble.

In 1865 he laid the director of the orchestra down to his successor Bedřich Smetana was appointed, and took over the management of a military band. 1888 Komzák went into retirement.

His son Karl Komzák junior learned the music and composing with the Father and was later also a successful composer.
