Karel Weis

Karel Weis ( born February 13, 1862 in Prague, † April 4, 1944 ) was a Czech composer and musician of Czech origin.

. Eleven, Weis came in 1873 to the Prague Conservatory, where he studied until 1878 In the same year he moved to the Prague Organ School, and remained there until 1881; In the same period he was also a student of Zdeněk Fibich. Through its advocacy and support he received in 1881 a position as organist at St. Stephen's and choir director at the main synagogue in Prague.

Between 1882 and 1883 the Moravian Music Society in Kroměříž ( Moravia ) entrusted him with a teaching assignment. Then Weis returned to Prague and was a violinist in the orchestra of the National Theatre of Prague. 1886 appointed him to the Švanda theater company as a conductor; by the end of 1887, he came into this office mostly in Prague and Brno.

Between 1896 and 1904 worked as assistant to the violinist František Weis Ondříček.

Seven weeks after his 82nd birthday Weis died on April 4, 1944 in Prague and found his final resting place.

In addition to various little things the work of Karel Weis consists mainly of operas and operettas.
