Karen Black

Karen Black ( born July 1, 1939 as Karen Blanche Ziegler in Park Ridge, Illinois; † August 8, 2013 in Santa Monica, California ) was an American actress and singer.

Life

Karen Black worked in the 1960s as a waitress in New York and attended the drama school of Lee Strasberg. Her first major film role was in Big Boy, now you 'll be a man! (1966, directed by Francis Ford Coppola ). Greater attention she attracted in Easy Rider ( 1969).

From 1955 to 1962 she was with Charles Black, married on 18 April 1973 to October 1974 with the actor Robert Burton. As of July 4, 1975 she was married to the actor and screenwriter LM Kit Carson. After her divorce she married on 27 September 1987, director and producer Stephen Eckelberry. She was in her third marriage mother of a son, the actor, script writer and producer Hunter Carson ( born December 26, 1975), they also adopted a three- month-old girl (* 1987).

She was, as her ex- husband, LM Kit Carson, an active member of Scientology.

In 2009, she sang a part of the song Dreams Come True Girl on the album Catacombs by Cass McCombs.

Black died on August 8, 2013 periampullärem cancer in Santa Monica.
