Karen Moe

Karen Patricia Moe - Thornton ( born January 22, 1952 in Del Monte, Philippines) is a former American swimmer.

She won her biggest sporting success at the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, when she was Olympic champion over 200 m butterfly. Previously, she had four times, setting a new world record over this distance. For the 1976 Olympics in Montreal, she was able to qualify though, finished in the finals over 200m butterfly but only the fourth place. After she finished her career and became a successful swimming coach.

In 1992, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame International Swimming Sports.
