Kári P. Højgaard

Kári Páll Højgaard ( born July 21, 1951 in Strendur, Faroe Islands ) is the current Faroese interior minister and chairman of the party Sjálvstýrisflokkurin and President of the West Nordic Council.

Højgaard lives in Saltangará in the community Runavík, the City Council, he was a member from 1988 to 31 December 2008. From 26 May 2001 to the end of April 2002 he was a substitute for the Faroese Parliament Løgting since April 30 2002 Højgaard a member of the Parliament. From 2004 to 2008 he was a member of the Committee on Environment and Natural livelihoods of the Nordic Council. In August 2011 Højgaard was elected president of the West Nordic Council. For the election of Løgting 29 October 2011 Kári P. Højgaard was able to win only candidate of his party a seat. In November 2011 he was appointed Minister of the Interior Faroese. His place in Parliament now plays a Jógvan Skorheim.
