Kari Sallinen

Kari Juhani Sallinen (* September 24, 1959 in Helsinki ) is a former Finnish orienteers and world champion of 1985.

In 1981 took part Sallinen at World Championships and won the bronze medal with the Finnish relay. In the individual competition he reached the fifth rank. 1983 Sallinen was in the Hungarian Zalaegerszeg again fifth. At the World Cup 1985 in Australia Sallinen finally won the world title. On the Norwegian Tore Sagvolden, the Vice World Champion from 1981, Sallinen had nearly two minutes ahead.

1982, 1983 and 1986 Sallinen Finnish champion in Classic competition. He also won the 1982 national championship in night - orienteering, 1987, the championship on the long distance. 1989 Finnish champion was determined the season of the club Hiidenkiertäjät in the relay race. With this club he won in 1987 as the final runners Jukola.

In addition to the Hiidenkiertäjät he belonged during his career at the club also Matinkylän Akilles. His mother Raili Sallinen ( born Hyvärinen ) was 1975 Relay World Champion in Ski orienteering.
