Karimata Strait

Geographical location

The Karimata Street is a strait between the islands of Sumatra and Borneo, which connects the Java Sea to the South China Sea. Are the islands of Bangka, Belitung and Karimata islands in it. At about 150 km wide strait of the equator runs. Bangka Belitung and intermediate runs as Byway the Gaspar Strait.

It is not uncommon for Indonesian passenger ships which operate between Jakarta and Batam to throw the waste disposal in the ocean and thus contribute to the pollution of the water.
