Karimganj ( Bengali: করিমগঞ্জ Karimganj [ ˌ kɔrim ɡɔndʒ ], Assamese: কৰিমগঞ্জ Karimganj [ ˌ kɔrim ɡɔnz ] ) is a town in the Indian state of Assam. It is the administrative seat of the district of Karimganj. The population is 52,316 ( 2001 census).

Karimganj is located in the Barak Valley in southern Assam's right on the border with Bangladesh. The border is the river Kushiyara, a branch of the Barak, on the south bank Karimganj is located. The Barak Valley is surrounded on three sides by mountains and therefore largely isolated from the rest of Assam. Historically and culturally, however, there are close connections to East Bengal (today Bangladesh) and the city of Sylhet, which is only 50 kilometers away from Karimganj. Thus, the majority language is not the Assamese, the official language of Assam, but the Bengali.

During the British colonial period belonged to the Karimganj district Sylhet. During the partition of India did this on Pakistan ( East Pakistan, today Bangledesh ), the eastern part of the district of Karimganj with India but was added to it and incorporated in the District of Cachar. Since 1983, the city is the administrative seat of the autonomous district Karimganj.

By Karimganj the National Highway 44 leads from Shillong to Agartala. Over the railway line from Silchar to Agartala Karimganj is connected to the railway network.
