Karin Beier

Karin Beier ( born December 14, 1965 in Cologne ) is a German theater director, former director of the Cologne Theatre and Staging since the season 2013/14, director of the Hamburg Schauspielhaus.

Life

Karin Beier studied in her home city of Cologne the subjects English language and literature as well as theater, film and television studies. About her studies she came to the theater. In 1986, Beier together with Elmar Goerden the internationally composed theater group Counter Quarrelsome with which they staged a total of nine plays of William Shakespeare mostly to foreign theater venues (such as factory halls and trade fairs ) in the original language.

In 1991, Karin Beier as an assistant director at the Düsseldorf Schauspielhaus. Here she was soon able to bring out their first autonomous productions at a city theater. In Dusseldorf, especially the Iraqi director David Mouchtar - Samorai was formative for their development.

Since the season 2007/2008 Beier directs the spectacle of Cologne as a director. Her contract was renewed in July 2010 until the season 2013/14 and released November 7, 2011 August 31, 2013, as they took over for season 2013/14 the management of the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.
