Karin Bergöö Larsson

Karin Larsson, born Bergöö ( born October 3, 1859 Örebro, † February 18, 1928, Valnäs, Södermanland ) was a Swedish artist. She was married to the painter Carl Larsson.

Life

Karin Larsson was born in 1859 in Örebro, her father was a merchant. She showed an early talent for painting and was inducted into the Academy of Fine Arts Stockholm in 1877. There she studied until 1882. Afterwards she traveled to the artists' colony in Grez -sur -Loing in the vicinity of Paris, where she met Carl Larsson. They settled in 1883 married in Stockholm, and then returned to Grez -sur- Loing. Their first daughter, Suzanne, was born there in 1884, in 1885 they moved back to Stockholm. Pontus Fürstenberg from Gothenburg wished for an extensive painting by Carl Larsson for his collection, so they left their two children now at Karin's parents in Hallberg and spent a year in Paris. When they returned to Sweden, they bought a small house, Lilla Hyttnäs, near Falun.

Although Karin Larsson brought eight children into the world and developing the company's home for a large family, she was still time to live out their artistic side.
