Karine Polwart

Karine Polwart ( born December 23, 1970) is a Scottish folk singer.

Biography

After graduating from high school Polwart studied philosophy in Canada and Glasgow. This she taught thereafter in an elementary school. She was involved in the campaign " Women's Aid" to 2000. Since then she turns back to more of the music.

Before Polwart 2004 her solo career took off, she had worked with the bands Malinky and Battlefield Band. In addition, she has worked with David Knopfler and Roddy Woomble.

Karine Polwart 2005 won three BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards for Best Album and Best Original Song as well as the Horizon Award, 2007 Best Original Song for her song Daisy. They also won the 2003 Scots Trad Music Award for best female singer.

On 29 May 2007, her son Arlo was born.

It's about life desires, fears, curiosity, self-assessment, pain, appreciation and observations about life and contact with others. Here she meets a sound between confidence and pain processing.
