Karl Abraham Zedlitz

Karl Abraham Freiherr von Zedlitz and Leipe ( born January 4, 1731 Black Waldau in Silesia, † March 18, 1793 on his estate Kapsdorf in Silesia ) was a Prussian minister.

Life

After his education at the Knight's Academy in Brandenburg an der Havel Zedlitz joined in 1755 as a Superior Court clerk in the civil service, 1759 Oberamt Government in Wroclaw, 1764 President of the Government Silesia, 1770 Secret State and Minister of Justice and received in 1771 next to the detective department was the whole spiritual department in churches - and school supplies.

As a follower of Kant's philosophy, he promoted the elementary school system and provided to the colleges and universities for a free spiritual direction. He introduced the current high school, inspired by practical experience of Otto Meier.

When Frederick II during the Arnold 's process in 1779 demanded the punishment of the Superior Court of Councils involved him to Zedlitz absolutely refused and withdrew for a time the displeasure of the king.

In 1788 he lost the spiritual department, assigned Johann Christoph von Wollner, 1789 and took his dismissal from the civil service. In both 1788 and 1789 he was director of the Knight Academy to Legnica.
