Karl Anton Eckert

Karl Anton Florian Eckert ( born December 7, 1820 Potsdam, † October 14, 1879 in Berlin) was a German composer.

Life

Early orphaned, was adopted Karl Eckert of the poet Friedrich Christoph Förster. Talked about early 1825 Eckert made ​​as a musical prodigy. Rangers gave him a comprehensive musical education in piano, violin and horn playing among others, Karl Wilhelm Greulich, F. William I, King of Prussia, called Eckert 1868 back to the Royal Court Opera in Berlin where he worked as court music director until 1879. In addition to his official duties at the Court Opera Eckert created a little own compositional work and edited several works of earlier musicians. As a close friend of Richard Wagner, it was Eckert's merit to have brought several works of Wagner in Berlin for the premiere.

At the age of 58 years Karl Anton Eckert died in Berlin.
