Karl Denson

Karl Denson Maurice (* December 27, 1956 in Santa Ana, California) is an American musician (saxophone, flute, backing vocals ) of rhythm and blues and modern jazz.

Life and work

Denson began during his high school years with the saxophone. He then studied music in college and graduated in 1981 to study composition at the California State University. On the West Coast, he worked from 1985 with its own quartet. He also worked at Johnny Otis, Nancy Wilson, The Fifth Dimension, Lenny Kravitz, and with Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley. In the early 1990s he became nationally known with his quartet, which now John Patitucci and Ron Stout belonged to and played his first two albums own one. He is also one of the founders of operating out of San Diego from The Greyboy Allstars. With Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette, he recorded the album " Chunky Peacan Pie" (1994). Then he opened for hip-hop, as his recorded CD "Dance Lesson No.. 2 "( 2001) documents. With his band " Tiny Universe", which belong to Chris Littlefield, Brian Jordan, David Veith, Ron Johnson and John Staten, he played from 2000 to the leading American festivals. In the trio KD3 he played with keyboardist Anthony Smith ( Global Funk, Giant People) and drummer Brett Sanders.
