Karl Erik Harr

Karl Erik Harr ( born May 8, 1940 in Kvæfjord in Harstad, Troms ) is a Norwegian painter, draftsman, printmaker, illustrator and writer.

Life and work

From 1962 to 1964 he trained at the Norwegian State Academy of Arts. He illustrated works, among others, by Petter Dass and Knut Hamsun, but also self- authored books. He was given several important contracts, such as for the decoration of the Town Hall of mountains and the Hurtigruten ship Nordkapp.

Since the 1960s, Karl Erik Harr is considered one of the most important neo-romantic artists in Norway. His subjects are mainly natural and life of the people of Northern Norway.

Honors

2007 Karl Erik Harr was awarded the Olav's Medal, First Class.
