Karl Ewald Hasse

Karl Ewald Hasse ( born June 23, 1810 in Dresden, † September 26, 1902 in Hannover ) was a German physician and professor of special pathology.

Life

Karl Ewald Hasse studied medicine at the Universities of Dresden and Leipzig. In 1833 he was awarded his doctorate. He was, inter alia, personal physician of Count Stroganov. After study trips to Paris and Vienna, he returned to Leipzig. In 1836 he qualified as a professor in Leipzig and became prosector. In 1839 he was associate professor of pathological anatomy in Leipzig. In 1844 he was called to Zurich as medical director of the cantonal hospital and professor of medical clinic and pathology. 1846/47 he served as rector of the university. In 1852 he was appointed full professor of special pathology at the medical clinic in Heidelberg. Here was 1856 Wilhelm Wundt his assistant. That same year, Hasse was in the same position to Göttingen, where until 1878 he worked as Director of the Medical Clinic. After his retirement drew Karl Ewald Hasse in 1880 and later to Hameln to Hanover. He received the title of privy councilor privy.
