Karl Frederick, Prince of Anhalt-Bernburg

Karl Friedrich, Prince of Anhalt -Bernburg ( born July 13, 1668 Bernburg (Saale ), † April 22, 1721 in Ballenstedt ) from the family of Ascanians was from 1718 to his death reigning prince of Anhalt- Bernburg.

Life

Karl Friedrich was the eldest son of Prince Victor Amadeus of Anhalt- Bernburg and his wife Countess Palatine Elisabeth of Zweibrücken. He was married in first marriage with his cousin Sophie Albertine ( born October 2, 1672 † June 12, 1708 ), the daughter of Georg Friedrich Graf zu Solms- Sonnenwalde and Princess Anna Sophie of Anhalt- Bernburg, sister of Prince Victor Amadeus of Anhalt- Bernburg.

After her death he married 1715 in morganatic marriage the maid Wilhelmine Charlotte Nüssler, who had already born him a son in 1712. After she had given birth in 1717 another boy, it was in 1719 raised to the Countess of Ballenstedt. The two sons, who were not followed were justified, legitimized and given the title Earl of Bährnfeld.
