Karl Frei

Karl Frei ( born March 8, 1917 in rain village near Zurich, † 18 June, 2011 Schlieren near Zurich ) was a Swiss gymnast and Olympic champion.

Career

At the Olympic Summer Games in London in 1948, he participated in all eight competitions in gymnastics. He won the individual competition in gymnastics rings before his Swiss teammate Michael Reusch. In the team's all-around he was defeated by the Swiss team narrowly gymnasts from Finland and won silver.

After his active sports career he worked as a coach and as a caretaker of a school.
