Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Wallroth

Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Wall Roth ( born March 13, 1792 in Breitenstein ( resin ), † March 22, 1857 in Nordhausen ) was a German physician, botanist and mycologist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Wallr. ".

Life

Born in the rectory of Breitenstein in the Harz Mountains, he spent here and in Breitungen childhood and adolescence. First, home-schooled by his father, he then attended from 1805 in the convent school in Roßleben. Wallroth studied from 1810 in Halle ( Saale) medicine, but also hears botanical lectures. He received his Ph.D. in 1815 in Göttingen as a doctor of medicine and surgery. Wallroth opened in 1816 in pegs / helmets a doctor's office and in 1817 was appointed official and Stadtphysikus. From 1822 he was district physician in Nordhausen and can be finally settled here in 1825. 1855 Councilor Wallroth retired and died two years later.
