Karl Girardet

Karl Girardet ( May 3 1813 in Le Locle, † April 24, 1871 in Versailles) was a Swiss painter.

Life

Karl Girardet was the son of Abraham Girardet and a student Léon Cogniets. He made ​​great traveling in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Algeria, Egypt and Turkey, from which he brought back landscapes and genre paintings. Mostly he left the landscape painting and created actual images of history, as the painting located in Le Locle " Protestants during her devotion of Catholic monks and soldiers raided " from 1842 shows.
