Karl Gustav Brescius

Guido Brescius ( born March 25, 1824 in Budissin (now Bautzen ), † December 4, 1864 in Pirna ) was a German railway engineer.

Life

Guido Brescius was a son of the royal Saxon Customs Council Karl Gustav Brescius.

He studied from 1839-1844 at the Dresden Technical School (now TU Dresden). Among his teachers was Professor Andreas Schubert.

First practical experience as a railway engineer Brescius collected in 1844 as a volunteer in the construction of the Saxon- Silesian railway from Dresden to Görlitz. During construction of the Saxon-Bohemian railway (Dresden - floor Bach, 1847) Brescius was already responsible as a division engineer himself for the section in the area of ​​Königstein.

On 27/12/1859 he married Cora Gabriele, daughter of the late 1853 District Judge Pfennigwerth.

Albert railway

In 1853 Guido Brescius signed the employment contract as a machinist and engineer Albert Bahn AG. Thus, it was responsible for the planning and construction of the railway line Dresden- Tharandt and the Low Hermsdorfer carbon branch line and the branch line Hänichener carbon.

With the construction of Hänichener carbon branch line Brescius ventured a line management with artificial length development to overcome the height difference between Plauensche reason and Gitterseer plateau, with slopes of 1:40 used at a in the pure friction mode ( adhesion railway ) track and 85 m radius of curvature on a main track with standard gauge.
