Karl Gustav Fellerer

Karl Gustav Fellerer (* July 7, 1902 in Freising / Bavaria; † January 7, 1984 in Munich) was a professor of musicology and rector of the University of Cologne.

Career

After graduation Fellerer studied at the School of Church Music Regensburg, then in Munich at the university, where he was also a student of Joseph Haas, and in Berlin. Here he completed his studies in 1925 with the PhD. from. Then he was after the first postdoctoral lecturer at the University of Münster. In 1932 he got a position at the University of Fribourg / Switzerland, where he became a full professor in 1934.

As a student Fellerer was each member of the Catholic student fraternities in Regensburg at the Agilolfia, when K.St.V. Honors

Fellerer was a regular member of the Rhenish- Westphalian Academy of Sciences in Dusseldorf and of the Academies of Science in London, Copenhagen and Brussels. To him, the great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Cross of Honour for Science and Art, 1st Class of the Republic of Austria and the Commander's Cross of the Pontifical Order of St.Gregorius were awarded, in 1968, he received the Austrian Mozart Medal.
