Karl-Heinz Ripkens

Karl -Heinz Ripkens ( born December 9, 1937 in Cologne ) is a former German football player.

Career

Up to Round 1958/59 the inside forward in the former WM system in Cologne amateur was active when the district club SSV Vogelsang. To round 1959/60 was Ripkens contract player at the " Billy Goat Elf ". Five years played the striker for FC Cologne 1. He made his debut on the last round Round, 24 April 1960 at the 2:3 defeat at VfL Bochum in the Football Oberliga West. He made it with Helmut Rahn the right wing of the West champion. In the final round of the German soccer championship he came to three inserts. But in the final on June 25 against Hamburger SV he sat in the 2:3 defeat on the bench. By the end of the old class Oberligaära, 1962/63, the technicians and combination footballer to four league titles of the 1st FC Cologne in the Oberliga West was involved. When the German Championship was brought to Cologne in 1962, Ripkens had not come in the final round to use. On June 29, 1963, he was against it in the Team of the defending champions, but the final with 1:3 gates lost to West rivals Borussia Dortmund. A total of 44 matches will be listed with eight goals for Ripkens 1960 to 1963 in the Oberliga West; plus 14 inserts come in the final with a goal.

As the 1st Bundesliga 1963/64, started it, however, came under coach George Knöpfle just once used. The inside forward positions of the first Bundesliga champion were occupied by Hans Schäfer and Wolfgang Overath. 1962 and 1964 he was with the people of Cologne German masters. With the end of the first Bundesliga season he left the club. In Belgium, he was with Standard Liege runner-up behind the RSC Anderlecht and then moved on after just one season back to Germany. There he went to the Regionalliga West - which at that time represented the second highest German league - Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In this league he played after that for the SC Viktoria Cologne and SC Fortuna Köln. From 1965 to 1970 Ripkens graduated 115 Regional games and scored 24 goals before he finished his higher class career.

With the City selection Cologne (1960 /61) and the 1st FC Cologne ( 1961-64 ) had Ripkens disputed Cities Fairs Cup five international missions with a gate. Opponents were AS Roma, Inter Milan and La Gantoise Ghent.
