Karl Hermann Martell

Karl Hermann Martell ( born November 17, 1906 in Tilsit, † December 28, 1966 in Hamburg ) was a German actor and director of documentary films.

Life

The age of 14, Charles Martel was his film debut in 1920 in The big secret, followed by the movies The Golden Plague and The Golden Hair. In the 1930s he was seen regularly in front of the camera and was a well known actor, primarily as a supporting actor. He played four times with Zarah Leander and was long considered their ideal play partner for a time.

Among his best known films of the 1930s include La Habanera, Gamer and women for Golden Hill. During the Second World War, the films alarm, Ohm Krüger emerged then and the old song. After the end of the war Martell worked only in the movies hearts and minds of the prisoners of the Maharajah, stars on Colombo and the blue moth with, before he retired from the film business.

From the early 1950s Martell worked in Hamburg as a documentary producer with his own company.
