Karl Hess: Toward Liberty is an American documentary from the year 1980.

Action

The film describes the life of American author, philosopher and political activist Karl Hess ( 1923-1994 ). After his work as editor of the magazine Newsweek Hess was a speechwriter for Republican politicians, among them Senator Barry Goldwater. He was a member of the student organization Students for a Democratic Society.

In the late 1960s he moved to West Virginia Hess. He moved his field of activity in a movement that supports alternative technologies and renewable energy. His views, he discussed with his opponents, established institutions such as government, universities and companies.

In 1981 the film in the category Best Short Documentary was awarded the Oscar.

The Student Film Awards, he also won the Achievement Award.
