Karl Hoschna

Karl L. Hoschna ( born August 16, 1877 in Kuschwarda, Bohemian Forest, † December 23, 1911 in New York) was an Austrian-American musician and composer.

Life

Karl Hoschna studied at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna. After successfully completing his studies he played as an oboist in various chapels and later became a military musician of kk Army.

Hoschna emigrated to America and joined in New York the conductor Victor Herbert on. In addition to his work ( as a musician ) with Herbert emerged over time several operettas, of which nearly each was a success immediately. In transfers and edits his works found all over the world on stage and the songs were soon as evergreens again (eg Come into my love nest ).

By Herbert Hoschna made ​​the acquaintance with Isidore Witmark, for whom he arranged a number of time pieces of music. In 1902, he became friends with Otto Harbach, with whom he 1902 operetta " The daughter of the desert" wrote; this piece was published or ever performed in public.

Further co-operation brought better results and from 1912 worked as Hoschna creative with Benjamin Hapggod Burt together. The premiere of his last work, "The Wall Street girl" did not live Hoschna.

He died in 1911 in New York and found his final resting place.
