Karl Kainberger

Karl Kainberger ( born December 1, 1912 in Salzburg, † December 17, 1997 ) was an Austrian football player. The striker won the Austrian amateur team at the Olympic Games in Berlin in 1936 the silver medal.

Career

Karl Kainberger played together with his older brother Edi at SAK 1914 in the Salzburg Provincial League. The League was then aligned on amateur basis and was not related to the professional Austrian championship in connection, limited at that time only on the Wiener space. With the Nonntalern Karl Kainberger won several times the national championship and reached the finals three times the amateur state championships. From coach Jimmy Hogan, he was taken to the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, although he had until then not played a game for the Austrian amateur national. After Josef Kitzmüller injury turned out after the scandal against Peru for the semi-final against Poland, Karl Kainberger jumped for him on the left connector position and the 3-1 win also scored a goal. The striker has now been drawn up by Hogan for the Olympic final, which was lost 1:2 in the change in Italy and also scored the only goal in the Austrian final.
