Karl Rainer

Karl Rainer ( born July 1, 1901 in Vienna, † June 9, 1987 ) was an Austrian football player. He was the right back of the legendary miracle team and could with his original club Vienna next two championships win the Mitropa Cup in 1931.

Career

Karl Rainer began his football career at FC Striker 07 from favorites he was taken by Josef Blum to Dobling to first division club, First Vienna FC 1894, where the two next to Beer- devil soon crystallized the best Austrian Back- pair. Karl Rainer bribed by his positional play and was 1921-1938 regular players of the Blue - Yellow; after Abritt Blum 1933 together on the side of Willibald Schmaus. He ran in a total of 882 matches for Vienna, before he found a successor in Otto Kaller.

With his club Karl Rainer could be in 1931 and 1933 Austrian champion to his wedding in 1929 and 1930 bear the OFB Cup it and decide to crown the Mitropa Cup in 1931 for themselves. With the Austrian national team, he was known at that time as a miracle team and could make 1932 the European Cup victory perfectly. After the war he worked as a coach at the Vienna AC, Vienna and at SC Justice. After ending his playing career Karl Rainer continued to work in his own business as a leather goods retailer. After the death of his wife and son, he spent the last years of his life in a mental hospital, where he died at the age of 86 years. His tomb is located on the Grinzinger cemetery in Vienna ( group 21, number 9, number 2).
