Karl Renneberg

Karlheinz Renneberg ( born October 29, 1927 in Gelsenkirchen, † 25 October 1999) was a rower from the Federal Republic of Germany, the 1960 Olympic champion in pairs with coxswain.

He began in 1941 with the rowing. 1951 and 1952 he was with Heinz Eichholz German champion in pairs without coxswain. At the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, the two were in the run third parties. To repechage they were not due to an illness of Eichholz.

In 1960 he won the two with coxswain at the all-German Olympic qualification together with Bernhard Knubel and helmsman Klaus Zerta.

At the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 the races were held on the Lake Albano. The German boat won the lead in 7:31,64 minutes. In the finals, the boat won in 7:29,14 with a brief second ahead of the boat from the Soviet Union.

The trained machinist went to the rowing club Gelsenkirchen. Overall Renneberg won over 120 races.
