Karl Riha

Karl Riha ( born June 3, 1935 in Cesky Krumlov on the Vltava River, Czechoslovakia ) is a German writer and literary critic.

Life

During and after his studies at the University of Frankfurt am Main was Karl Riha 1962-1967 feuilleton editor of the Frankfurter student magazine discus. From 1965 he worked as a research assistant at the University of Frankfurt, in 1969 at the Technical University of Berlin. He received his PhD in 1969 on the city motif in the German literature. In 1972 he qualified as a professor in 1975 and professor of German philology / General Literature at the University of comprehensive high school victories.

From 1988 to 1991 Karl Riha was director of the Literary Colloquium Berlin. He is a member of the Literature Council NRW, as well as a member of the PEN center of Germany. In Gallery and Publishing patio he is editor of the publishing house number PA -RA - BU. At the University of overall high school victories Riha worked as co-editor of the series of editions MUK ( mass media and communication) and, with Francis J. Weber and Marcel Beyer, the forgotten authors of the modern age, the number of experimental texts and the magazine Diagonal. The Edition edge of Modernism, edited by him with Francis J. Weber, published since 1988 in the postscript Verlag, Hannover.

Riha 1996 won the Literature Prize of the city of Kassel for grotesque humor.

Karl Riha has written numerous scientific publications, among others on the topics ballad, song, Bänkelsang, Commedia dell'arte, Dadaism, comics, cartoons and caricatures as well as media history ( broadcasting, film, press, television). He occasionally used the pseudonym Hans forest, Agno Stowitsch and Charlie Hair In his literary publications.
