Karl Schulze (rower)

Karl Schulze ( born March 5, 1988 in Dresden ) is a German rower. In 2011 he was runner-up in the quadruple sculls and 2012 Olympic champion.

Career

At the Junior World Championships in 2005 Schulze took the sculls second place, 2006 he was a junior world champion, both times was already Tim Grohmann in the same boat. Of 2007, Grohmann and Schulze on the double sculls and won the silver medal at the U23 World Championships. After a third place finish at the U23 World Championships in 2008 and eighth place at the helm European Championships 2008 in the adult class Schulze returned 2009 back in the quadruple sculls and finished fifth in the U23 World Championships.

2010 Karl Schulze rowed in one. He won the U23 World Championships, finished third at the helm European Championships in 2010 and the tenth place at the World Rowing Championships 2010.

2011 won the German quadruple sculls at the World Cup kick-off in Munich with Tim Grohmann, Philipp Wende, Karl Schulze and Lauritz Schoof, after they had won in this occupation German championship title. In the occupation Schulze, turning, Schoof and Grohmann the boat took second place at the World Cup in Hamburg and won in Lucerne. With this line of sculls also won the silver medal at the World Championships in Bled behind the Australian boat.

At the Olympic Games 2012 in London, she then won on the Dorney Lake the gold medal. A year later, at the World Rowing Championships 2013 in Chungju he erruderte silver, ahead of the United Kingdom, but to Croatia.
