Karl Schwedler

Karl Schwedler, artist name, Charlie ( born August 13, 1902 in Duisburg, † June 20, 1970 in Feldafing ) was a German jazz musician, entertainer and in the time of National Socialism namesake of Swing Orchestra Charlie and His Orchestra.

Life

Schwedler was the son of Master Plumbers Emil Schwedler and Anna Müller. He married in 1944 Catherine Kirchner and had a son.

Schwedler made ​​a commercial apprenticeship and emigrated in 1923 to the United States, where he conducted a concert agency. After the outbreak of World War II, he returned in September 1939 back to the German Reich and was discontinued in November 1939 with the official title of a Scientific laborer at the Foreign Office in the " Unit broadcasting matters ." He made radio broadcasts together for the English enemy propaganda and was a singer and lyricist of Swing Orchestra Charlie and His Orchestra, which was led by Lutz Templin.
