Karl Staaff

Charles Albert Staaff ( born January 21, 1860 in Stockholm, † October 4, 1915 ) was a Swedish politician of the Liberala samlingspartiet and twice ( 1905-1906 and 1911-1914 ) Prime Minister of Sweden.

Charles Albert Staaff was the son of Albert and Mina Staaff Beautiful. He studied law at the University of Uppsala.

From 1896 to 1915 Staaff was member of the Reichstag, 1907-1915 Chairman of the Liberal Party. In 1905, he was the successor of Christian Lundeberg Prime Minister of Sweden, had to give in the following year to Arvid Lindman the office but. From 1905 to 1906 Staaff took simultaneously true the Office of the Minister of Justice.

In 1911 he succeeded in replacing Lindman, Office of the Prime Minister. In 1914, he resigned in protest against the arms policy of King Gustav V back ( Borggård crisis). His successor was on 17 February 1914, the conservative politician Hjalmar Hammarskjöld.
