Karl Warner

Karl Warner (Karl DeWitt Warner, born June 23, 1908 in Woodbury, Connecticut; † September 5, 1995 in Rochester, New York) was an American sprinter and Olympic champion who successfully in the early 1930s in the 400 -meter run had.

In 1933 he was U.S. vice- champion. He started for Yale University.

At the Olympic Games 1932 in Los Angeles, Warner was involved in two world records in the 4 x 400 - meter relay:

  • August 6, 1932: 3:11,4 min. The previous record, set at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam, had been standing at 3:14,2 min.
  • August 7, 1932: 3:08,2 min ( gold medal ). This world record is one of the most durable in the history of athletics, because until 1952 he was the Jamaican quartet to 3:03,9 min screwed.
