Karlgeorg Hoefer

Life and work

Hoefer taught at the Academy of Design ( until 1970 Werkkunstschule ) in Offenbach am Main. Subsequently, he held teaching positions for conducting summer schools in California and other American cities. In 1987 he founded the Writing Workshop Klingspor Offenbach and the conveyance International Calligraphy eV

He designed fonts for Ludwig & Mayer, Gebr Klingspor, Linotype, Stempel, H. Berthold AG and JT Hellas, such as the Salto (1952 Gebr Klingspor ) or its most widely used font, the FE writing for the Federal Highway Research Institute.

His first digital font was the font " Greek program -Grotesk " for JT Hellas, this was also used in digital typesetting machine » digiset " the company Dr. Ing Hell, and was for decades the Greek font directories.

Furthermore, it was used by Hoefer designed Sho (1992, Linotype ) of the internationally known music duo The Chemical Brothers for their logo. The rights to the font Linotype holds.
