Karlova Koruna Chateau

The Karlova Koruna ( German Karlskron ) Castle is located above Chlumec nad Cidlinou ( Chlumetz at the Cidlina ) in the district of Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic.

History

Franz Ferdinand Kinsky was above the village Chlumec nad Cidlinou 1721-1723 a baroque palace built by the architect Jan Blazej Santini - Aichl that shows an unusual floor plan: three square, three-storey wings are added each with a corner at a round Mittelbau, which they like a tower surmounted. The construction management was transferred Franz Maximilian Kanka.

After Emperor Charles VI. on the occasion of his coronation as king of Bohemia of the castle, which is surrounded by a magnificent park, had paid a visit to 1723, the plant was named Karlskron.

The exhibition in the castle includes the life of the noble family Kinsky and founded by Octavian Joseph Graf Kinsky Chlumetzer horse breeding Kinsky horses.

Located in the Castle Park St. Mary's Chapel served the Count Kinsky as a family tomb. After the expropriation of 1948, the interior was removed and used the chapel as a magazine. After the restitution of the plant it was renovated by the Kinsky family and again serves as a sacred space.
