Karlsborg Municipality

Karl Borg is a municipality (Swedish kommun ) in the Swedish county of Västra Götaland County and the historic province of Västergötland and is located on the western shore of Lake Vättern. Capital is the place Karl Borg. Other towns are Forsvik, Mölltorp, Undenäs and other smaller villages.

Geography

The municipality Karl Borg extends about 30 km on the western shore of Lake Vättern, with the 1912 km ² the second largest lake in Sweden. The southern part of the municipality is flat, while the northern part is hilly. The area is rich in lakes, including the municipality proportion of the lakes Viken, which is connected through the Gota Canal with the lakes Bottensjö and Vättern, and Unden. In the northeastern part of the community is the Tiveden.

Economy

Agriculture and industry play only a modest role in the community. Important are the military ( Bofors Underwater Systems with Test Site on Vättern ) and to some extent also of tourism. In recent years, more and more military infrastructure was shut down and tried to expand the tourism industry.

The fortress Karl Borg, the Göta Canal, the Industrial Museum Forsvik, Granvik and the National Park Tivedens are tourist attractions.
