Karnit Flug

Karnit flight (Hebrew: קרנית פלוג; born January 9, 1955 in Warsaw) is an Israeli economist and since 2013 the Israeli central bank governor. She is the first female governor of the Bank of Israel.

Life

Flight is the daughter of two Holocaust survivors. Her father is the former chairman of the umbrella organization of Holocaust survivors in Israel and the International Auschwitz Committee ( IAC ), Noah Flug. With three years she emigrated with her family to Israel.

She studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and at Columbia University in New York City. During her studies she worked for the International Monetary Fund ( IMF). After Flight 1988 returned to Israel, she worked for the research department of the central bank and was later involved in a research stay at the Inter-American Development Bank.

2011, Flight Substitute of the Israeli Central Bank until it was officially named after six months of provisional line to the chairman in 2013.
