Karpe Diem

Karpe Diem is a Norwegian rap group, which was founded in 2000. The group consists (also known as DJ En som heter Marius ) from Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid, Chirag Patel Rashmikant and DJ Marius Thingvald. The DJ is a member of the group and takes an active part in the stage shows.

History

Chirag and Magdi the first time did you meet on the trade school Oslo in 2000. After the founding of the group, they successfully took Ungdommens kulturmønstring ( UKM ) and won the competition. Since then they played among choosing Smart at Quartfestivalens, by: Larm spectrum, Rådhusplassen, Rockefeller, and Oslo.

You have worked a lot in the area of the Norwegian hip-hop and on 18 May 2004 was their debut EP Glasskår whose song " Skjønner You " came into the VG- lista Topp20. The EP received good reviews from the audience. In 2006 came their first album Rett Fra hjertet on the market. The album also got good reviews and the band was so well known throughout Norway. More than 18,000 copies were sold. Piano, the first single of the album was very well known. For the album, the band got the Alarmprisen 2007 in the category Hip-Hop/Rap.

In 2008, the singles were released Stjerner, Under over flaten, Vestkantsvartinga ( with Pumba ) and Fireogtyvegods from the album Fire Vegger, which came on 29 September 2008 on the market. For the album, they won the Spellemannprisen 2008 in the category hip-hop. They also appeared at the ceremony with the song Stjerner. In May 2010, the duo won the new Bendiksenprisen and got this for a prize of 100,000 crowns. In 2011 they won the Årets Spellemann.

Karpe Diem is a politically active group. Their lyrics deal with political issues, racism and typical hip-hop themes. Humor is also a very important part in the songs of the band.

Karpe Diem worked with, among other things, Son of Light, Gatas Parliament, El Axel, Tommy Tee and Apollo.
