Karrer (crater)

51.39

Karrer is an impact crater on the southern hemisphere of the moon back. It is located northeast of the crater Minkowski and south of the crater Leavitt.

The most striking feature of Karrer is his dark crater floor. This was created by the flooding of the crater interior with lava, which had a lower albedo than the surrounding landscape. The outer outline is almost circular, but is interrupted by a smaller crater in the northeast. The interior walls are of the same hue as the surrounding terrain and draw the boundary line of the flooded crater floor after clear. The rim is eroded in places, especially in the north in the area of the overlapping impact.
