Potato cheese, potatoes and cheese is a food from the Bavarian-Austrian space.

The name is misleading, because this dish contains no cheese (see liver cheese). The name is attributed to the mild milky - sweet flavor.

Potato cheese is a spread which was originally made ​​for the harvest workers harvesting potatoes. He was served with milk, beer or cider with bread or snack. This dish is known in Lower Bavaria, in Inner Austria, and western Austria and is made from floury potatoes, sour cream, cream, onions, cumin and parsley.

The cooked potatoes are mashed with finely chopped onions (about 3:1 ) and, if mixed with sour cream, until the potato cheese is thick spreadable.
