Kasey Keller (2007)

Kasey Keller ( born November 29, 1969 in Olympia, Washington ) is a retired American soccer goalkeeper.

Club career

His career began in the basement with the team the Portland Timbers, before moving to Millwall FC during the 1990/91 season in the English Premier League. After five years at FC Millwall he went to the 1996/97 season to Leicester City.

From Leicester City, his path led in the season 1999/2000 to Spain to Rayo Vallecano. He moved back in August 2001 in the English Premier League Tottenham Hotspur. For the 2004/05 season he was loaned to FC Southampton, but he was there only substitute keeper. That's why he moved to the winter break of the 2004/05 season in the Bundesliga to Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Although he had at the beginning still settling problems, but he blossomed at the end of the season the hoped-for support and had large interests in the league. After coach Dick Advocaat admitted as coach of Borussia, there have been rumors that Keller returns to the U.S. after the season. However, this was immediately denied by him and thus he kept in the season 2005/ 06, the Gate of Borussia Mönchengladbach. For the season 2006/ 07 he was elected by his fellow players to the team captain.

His contract ran out in Mönchengladbach on 30 June 2007 and was subsequently not renewed. Keller completed a total of 78 Bundesliga matches for " foal " and was an absolute crowd favorite. The fans gave him the nickname "The Wall".

Shortly before the end of the transfer window in summer 2007 signed a contract with the Premier League basement club Fulham FC.

On August 12, 2008, Major League Soccer announced a press conference for their franchise Seattle Sounders FC for August 14, to announce the second round of contract obligations for Season 2009.   • After his move to Borussia Mönchengladbach, Keller fulfilled a childhood dream and moved with his family in an old knight's castle, house Donk, in Tönisvorst.
  • The American pop band Barcelona wrote a song about the basement.
  • In his hometown of Lacey, Washington, a street was named after him. It is close to his old high school " North Thurston High School ."
